Rockford Chamber of Commerce

I will be presenting the keynote at the Rockford, Illinois Chamber of Commerce this week. The focus of the presentation is on cyber security for businesses. One of the things I will be talking about is the “Olympic Vision” keylogger malware. It is sent to their targets as an email attachment. Opening the attachment can lead to bank login credentials being compromised and wire transfers from the victim business bank account. Money stolen in this fashion may be a loss to the business, not the bank.

A prevention strategy, should include two things:

  1. Employee training/awareness about phishing emails and avoidance of clicking on links or attachments in emails from unknown senders or ones that look suspicious.
  2. An ongoing communication between business and financial institutions and controls to prevent crooks from taking money out of bank accounts.

For those of you in Rockford, I look forward to seeing you this week!
